My Review:

Mary is a runaway. She knows how to survive on the streets and she tries to make sure that others survive as well.

The way this book is written is unique and will definitely be familiar to a young adult audience. Some chapters are written as individual titled blog posts. I absolutely love this idea. It is different and yet it works. Mary is the author of the blog entitled “Do More Than Survive: How to THRIVE as a Runaway”.
On the blog she offers mature and experience-based advice to runaways and potential runaways.

Mary and a friend are sitting on a street corner begging for spare change when they spot a man holding a bloody heart in his hand. He is coming after them. They get away but not before the homeless man gets a tiny amount of blood on Mary.

The trouble begins when she discovers that he was infected with a new virus. Now she is infected too.

Mary must find a way to stop the virus and to save her friends before she turns into a raging monster.

This may be a short novella, but it is packed with lots of action. It is a thrill ride that readers won’t soon forget.

The author seems to know quite a lot about teenage runaways and seems to have researched the phenomena thoroughly before writing this book.

The characters in this story feel real. They have real feelings, real problems and real emotions. Readers cannot help but be drawn to these characters and invested in their lives.

I rate this book as 5 out of 5 stars. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I am very much looking forward to reading the next installment in Jamie Thornton’s ‘Feast of Weeds’ series. There will be a total of four books in this series and the rest of those books are slated to be full length novels.
