* I received a free copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

This book is FUNNY with a capital “F”. It is a candid look at the emotions a man goes through when he finds out that he is going to be a father for the first time.

It is written in diary format and starts when Graham’s new girlfriend announces that she has missed her period.

THE DIARY OF AN EXPECTANT FATHER follows the couple as they purchase and use a pregnancy test which is one of the most hilarious scenes of the entire book.

The entire pregnancy is chronicled. There are doctor’s visits, the couple moves in together, Allison experiences morning sickness, they announce the pregnancy to their families, they see the first ultrasound, and they deal with the normal fears and fantasies of every expectant couple.

Anyone who has ever become a parent should listen to this audiobook. I guarantee that there will be at least a few comedic scenes that you will be able to relate to.

The narrator that was chosen for this audiobook was perfect. His voice comes across as young enough to be that of a man in his late twenties and it is obvious that he rehearsed and prepared before completing the narration. His pacing is absolute perfection and he puts emphasis on the words that need it. This is something that I have noticed that many narrators are unable (or unwilling) to do. The only way to know what parts of a book should be emphasized is through preparation. It is a sad fact that many narrators do not practice reading the book aloud before recording the final version. A prepared narrator, such as Will M. Watt makes the experience of listening to an audiobook even more enjoyable. I have to say that I was definitely impressed with the narration of this book and I look forward to listening to many more of his audiobooks.

It is with great pleasure that I rate this audiobook as 5 out of 5 stars. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Through this book the author has reminded me what it was like for my husband when I was pregnant many years ago. I will be recommending this book to all the new and expectant parents I know.
