The cover of this book is especially creepy. It is the perfect cover for an anthology of short horror stories.

“This collection of eight stories go beyond the realm of terror to an entirely different kind of creepiness.”

THE OUR-SIDE – A scientist finally provides definitive proof of the existence of ghosts. He invents a device that holds a spirit in place long enough to weaken it.

CRAWL SPACE – Fourteen year old Henry can’t seem to get a good night’s sleep. He hears scratching, rustling and scraping within the walls of his attic bedroom in their new (old) house.

ALL EYES ON ME – Mark is visiting his psychiatrist – Doctor Caswell. Mark tells him that everyone is staring at him everywhere he goes. He says that even animals act differently around him. At first he thought he was just being paranoid, now he’s not so sure.

IT’S A WONDERFUL DEATH –
Standing on a rusty old bridge into the dark water below, a woman sees a demon beside her encouraging her to jump. “It is now standing on the ledge next to me, glaring, waiting for me to make the giant leap. The leap that I never thought I could make. But here I am, about to leave the man I love, about to leave my friends, my family, job, because of some figment of my imagination.”

THE DEVIL’S APPRENTICE – After serving as the Devil’s Apprentice in Hell for three thousand years he is cast out of Hell. What will he do now?

WATCH OVER ME – Colin Turner is dying. Coughing up blood and being stuck in a hospital bed is starting to seriously annoy him.

THE HOME – Nancy works the night shift at a nursing home, but lack of sleep is getting to her. She starts to see the ghost of a dead resident. Is it real? Or is she hallucinating?

ONE PILL FOR PERFECT VISION – He had avoided drugs in college and even afterward. “Then After-Eye came along. And everything changed.” This drug was legal, so why not try it? This is one drug that I hope never comes to be a reality.

This is one of the best horror short story collections that I have ever come across. Usually I like only a couple of stories in any collection, but this collection was the exception. I can honestly say that I enjoyed every story in SPINE. It is for that reason that I rate this book as 5 out of 5 stars. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

* I received a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for am honest review.
