“It’s hard for me to believe that just a short time ago, I lived a peaceful, content life. I was a proud father, devoted husband, good neighbor, and friend to many. But all of that has changed. She has stolen my neat and orderly life and has sentenced me to live in misery.” 

Above is the first paragraph of the book. D.M. Annechino has done it again. He has immediately grabbed my attention and piqued my curiosity. 

Who is she and what did she do to this man? And, knowing what type of book this is, I instantly started to speculate as to what horrendous crime this once respectable and well-liked man would commit. 

Detective Sami Rizzo is now married to Al and they have a three year old son. Sami’s daughter, Angelina, is now eight years old. 

One aspect of the Sami and Al romance storyline that drives me crazy is that in RESUSCITATION Al slept with a nurse while visiting his comatose sister in Brazil. Sami and Al were living together at the time, but were not yet married. Sami obviously forgives Al, but I don’t know how anyone could ever forgive a cheater. The circumstances were extraordinary, but to my mind that does not matter at all. I have a hard time believing that Sami would be able to ever trust him again and no marriage can survive without trust. However, all of that is obviously my own opinions on the subject and some women are able to be much more forgiving than I could ever be.

Author D.M. Annechino has a knack for getting inside the heads of seemingly “normal” people who through extraordinary circumstances have been pushed into ‘snapping’ and A PIECE OF YOU proves this.

The story begins quickly and the pace never lets up. Once again D.M. Annechino has created a taut thrill ride that will sweep readers along and keep them enthralled from the first page to the last. 

I rate A PIECE OF YOU as 5 out of 5 stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I have quickly become a fan of The Detective Sami Rizzo series and of author D.M. Annechino.

MY REVIEW OF: RESUSCITATION – BOOK TWO of the SAMI RIZZO DETECTIVE SERIES

This is the second book in the Detective Sami Rizzo series and it is just as good as the first book.

I received a free copy of the audiobook on CD in exchange for an honest review.

RESUSCITATION takes place two years after THEY NEVER DIE QUIETLY. Sami Rizzo and Al are now a couple. Sami is going to school for Social Work and is working towards her dream. Why then does she feel so unsatisfied?

I think most people will be able to relate to Sami’s plight. She misses detective work and isn’t sure if she made the right decision when she quit the police force. Everyone has doubts about their career path. When a huge decision is reached it is natural to second guess yourself. In my opinion, this makes Sami more relatable to the reader.

When bodies start appearing Sami is intrigued. Maybe she should return to detective work. But, that would be much easier said than done.

Also during this story which is another psychological thriller, Sami experiences family emergencies. Anyone who has aging parents will be able to relate to this part of the story line and it is extremely believable.

I absolutely loved this book. I was hooked right from the first disk. The narrator once again does an amazing job. Pacing is perfect. Her voice will now always be the voice of Sami Rizzo in my mind.

This book goes from zero to sixty very quickly and just keeps accelerating right to the very end. It is tense and the characters are believable. This story is particularly frightening because it could so easily be reality.

I rate this book as 5 out of 5 stars.

Chilling, horrifying – a mother’s worst fears exploited – one Hell of a book.

Detective Sami Rizzo is a single mother to an adorable two year old girl named Angelina. Like most mothers, Sami’s whole world revolves around her daughter.

Sami also has a dead-beat ex-husband who seems to believe that child support and visiting his daughter is optional.

Despite the drama in her personal life, Sami must put everything aside when she is working. As a homicide detective, it is her job (along with her partner, Al) to catch the bad guys.

When women start turning up dead, their bodies left in open spaces, Sami and Al are put in charge of the case.

This audiobook is extremely well done. The narrator has an amazing sense of when and where to place inflection on certain words and phrases, and her pacing is perfect.

As the story goes on, Sami becomes more and more obsessed with catching the elusive killer. In fact, she is so determined to catch him that she takes some chances that she normally wouldn’t.

As Sami becomes more and more involved, so does the listener. I do not think it is possible to not get caught up in this psychological thriller.

THEY NEVER DIE QUIETLY is a non-stop thrill ride that will have listeners on the edge of their seats.

I highly recommend this audiobook and I also highly recommend the Detective Sami Rizzo series of books by D.M. Annechino.
